Environmental Overview – Air Environment

Air quality monitoring was carried out at nine locations. The study indicated that, the temperature varied from 15.6 to 32.8ºC, and the Relative Humidity from 50% to 89%. The  maximum wind speed was observed to be 7.2m/s, and the average wind speed was 1.76m/s. The total rainfall was 309.9 mm during the study period. The predominant Wind Direction was from the west. The ambient air quality was monitored at nine locations with respect to SPM, PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NOX, CO, O3, Ni, Pb, As, NH3, Benzene, BaP.Fe and Mn. The AAQ analysis indicates that the concentration of SPM varied from 103 to 232 µg/m3, PM10 from 39 to 78 µg/m3, PM2.5 from 18 to 42 µg/m3, SO2 from 4.0 to 13.2 µg/m3, NOx from 9.0 to 14.1 µg/m3 & CO from 0.1 to 0.16 mg/m3, O3 from 5.0 to 8.3 µg/m3, NH3 from 20 to 31.3 µg/m3, Benzene from 0.10 to 0.29 µg/m3, BaP from 0.10 to 0.29 ng/m3,Fe 16.4 µg/m3 to 26.2 µg/m3 whereas As, Pb, Mn and Ni were not found in the study area.
